Summing Junctions
Summing junctions combine the outputs of several load cells into one signal for the indicator or data processor. They also have trim adjustments per cell, making the scale insensitive to the load’s location on the platform. Our ANYLOAD summing junctions, also called junction boxes or summing boxes, connect 2 to 12 load cells.
Summing Junction Uses
You’ll find them in multi-cell platform and floor scales, truck and livestock scales, tank, bin, and hopper weighing, and any system where several load cells feed one indicator.
Choosing a Summing Junction
- Number of inputs: choose a box with at least as many inputs as your system has load cells.
- Trim method: most models offer excitation-trim and signal-trim versions. Our guide to the load cell trimming procedure explains the difference and gives the steps.
- Enclosure: stainless steel meets washdown and outdoor site demands; fiberglass polyester resists corrosion and chemicals. Check each product’s IP rating. Replacement main boards fit existing enclosures.
- Surge protection: outdoor systems such as truck scales benefit from lightning protection.
